Biography

Tamla, a Program Coordinator at the Workplace Center, has a Masters in Urban Affairs from Hunter College with a focus on nonprofit management. She has over 15 years of experience in the nonprofit world including engaging employers and designing programs to generate employment opportunities for inner-city residents, many of whom were gang-involved and had criminal or juvenile justice backgrounds. 

Additionally, her extensive experience includes working in higher education with programs that support the educational and professional development of vulnerable young people. She coordinated the Public Service Scholar Program, an internship program focused on increasing leadership in public service, particularly of women and ethnic minorities, and served as the Program Administrator for the Liberty Partnership Programs at Hunter and Columbia University to support their mission to reduce the dropout rates of young people in high school.

Tamla has also been a consultant to community groups helping with board expansion and outreach to businesses to support and participate in a range of community development projects. She is happy to be a part of the Workplace Center team and to continue her work supporting the advancement of vulnerable populations.
